So, what does it mean if a project I select has a Normal, High, or Superior rank?

These levels indicate the potential impact you would have--with your skill set and background drawn from your profile's LinkedIn authentication--on a particular project relative to other projects. Our SmartMatch algorithm creates these ranks to help you choose projects where you'll make the highest possible impact for the organizations and causes you care about.

What if none of the projects I see are listed as High or Superior?

Look at the skills required for projects. You can improve your chances of having High or Superior rankings (and thus your chances of being chosen for projects) by:

checking your profile page to make sure your skills are accurate and updated
brushing up on and improving your skills at work, or by taking trainings through General Assembly, Code Academy, and online tutorials

NORMAL -
for your skill set and background, our SmartMatch algorithm suggests that you might have a Normal level of impact on this project. We suggest you look for projects that rank "high" or "superior" to maximize your impact, and your chances of being approved by the project administrator. HIGH -
